Pedro finished his PhD in Biology, University of Azores, in 2012, jointly supervised with Jaime Ramos (University of Coimbra) and Regina Cunha (University of Azores). His PhD focused on the biogeography of the passerine community in Azores.

Currently he is the Director of the Rif Research Station, Iceland.
